About Us

SeisPetro Geoconsulting and SeisPetro Geosoftware focus on the application and development of advanced seismic and petrophysical tools for reservoir characterization and modeling of conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Our philosophy strives in the understanding of fundamental principles to create solutions that can be used in reservoir management and exploration decisions focusing on the solution and not the technique.

Tailoring seismic and petrophysical information to specific needs, many times requires tools that are not commercially available. We have developed and continue to develop specialized software that complements the work that can be performed with commercial platforms.

We believe that it is the responsibility of the geophysicist and petrophysicist to translate their results into something useful to engineers and other geoscientists, and not the other way around. Therefore, delivering seismic or petrophysical results in isolation is not the ideal way to work for us In SeisPetro we are proud to deliver ready-to-use products that can be immediately used by geoscientists or engineers in further decision-making.
Who Is SeisPetro?
President and Geophysical Advisor
Reinaldo J. Michelena received a B.S. in physics from Universidad Simón Bolívar (Venezuela) and a Ph.D. in geophysics from Stanford University. He has over 30 years of experience in research, development, and application of seismic, petrophysics, and geological modeling methods to help reservoir delineation and characterization, from programming and testing of algorithms to integrated interpretation of field data results. He worked 18 years for PDVSA-Intevep, the research and technical services affiliate of PDVSA. He joined iReservoir in 2003 and worked in a variety of problems and geological settings where seismic data analysis results are used to constrain geological and flow simulation models. He became Geophysical Advisor for iReservoir in 2016 and started SeisPetro Geosoftware and SeisPetro Geoconsulting to continue with the development and application of advanced techniques for reservoir characterization and modeling in conventional and unconventional reservoirs. He served as Associate Editor of the journal Geophysics in the area of seismic inversion and was member and Chairman of the Board of the magazine The Leading Edge. Reinaldo is a member of SEG, EAGE, RMAG, and DGS. For more details, click here.
Software Development Advisor
Kevin S. Godbey received a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was IT Advisor at iReservoir between 2001 and 2016, working with iReservoir's subject matter experts to develop software implementing proprietary capabilities in geophysics, petrophysics, engineering, and data management. Prior to that, he developed production server applications for the hospitality industry. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the American Mathematical Society. In 2016 he co-founded SeisPetro Geosoftware to commercialize iReservoir's proprietary applications.
Petrophysics and Geoscience Advisors
Patricia E. Rodrigues received a Ph.D. in geophysics from Colorado School of Mines and a B.S. and M.S. in chemical engineering from Universidad Simón Bolivar (Venezuela). She has more than 20 years of experience in research and application of reservoir characterization technologies, specializing in petrophysics and rock physics for the oil and gas industry. She worked 8 years for PDVSA-Intevep and two years for Tricon Geophysics on seismic petrophysics and integrating well data through rock physics methodologies. In 2006, she joined DRM Energy Corp., a startup oil and gas company, while she also worked for iReservoir as a senior petrophysicist. While at iReservoir, she tested and used iMineralysis™ extensively and suggested numerous improvements. After iReservoir, she went back to school to complete her Ph.D. while working part-time for Newfield Exploration Company. In 2014, she joined Whiting Petroleum as Sr. Petrophysical Manager and more recently Director of Geology and Geophysics. She is the instructor of the class Petrophysical Multimineral Analysis. She is an expert on multimineral analysis and has taught this class at Colorado School of Mines for seven consecutive years as part of the Advanced Petrophysics class. For more details, click here.
Michael J. Uland received a M.S. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. He is directly in charge of petrophysics, geomodel construction, and integrated reservoir characterization as input for flow-simulation at iReservoir. Mike has been a user of iMineralysis™ for over a decade and the software has benefited from many of his suggestions. Mike has 36 years of experience in the petroleum industry. This includes 15 early years of practical field experience covering a range of engineering positions: drilling, operations, facilities, reservoir, EOR, and acquisitions & divestiture. From 1990 through 2000, Mike was a member of the early multidisciplinary reservoir 3D geomodeling research teams located at the Marathon Oil Company Technology Center. These early Marathon geomodel projects and the current iReservoir geomodel projects required the data integration of geophysics, rock physics, petrophysics, geostatistics, 3-D geomodeling, fractured rock mechanics, and reservoir simulation for the creation of effective reservoir management tools. Matthew D. Boyce received a B.S. in Geology from the University of Northern Iowa, M.S. in Geology from the University of Oklahoma, and Foundations in GIS Certificate from Front Range Community College. He has over 15 years of experience characterizing reservoirs with an emphasis on geological and petrophysical properties. Matt started his energy industry career in 2005 with geological internships at Encana Oil & Gas and Chevron Energy Technology Company. He later joined Encana full-time and held geoscience and petrophysical roles in development and exploration. In 2012 he moved to Newfield Exploration Company where he focused on petrophysics of mixed-wettability rock utilizing multimineral analysis, dielectric workflows for saturation exponents, and geomechanical modeling. In 2017 he began work with Whiting Petroleum and held roles as a petrophysicist and geoscientist focusing on basin scale evaluation work and integration of petrophysics, geology, and engineering concepts within their Exploration Team. Matt is an expert at incorporating geological variability in log normalization, petrophysical and geological mapping, and multimineral analysis. For more details, click here.
